Job Title:  Cafe Assistant/Barista

Hours of Work: Minimum of 16 hours per week including weekends, evenings and public holidays.

(More hours such as necessary to undertake the specified duties and this will involve)

Job Summary

We are searching for an engaging, courteous Barista who is passionate about food and beverage preparation and education. The Barista will greet customers, answer their questions, take orders and accept payments, and prepare and serve food and drinks. You will also maintain a clean and well-stocked workspace and dining area, update displays, and continuously expand your knowledge of food and beverage quality controls, preparation methods, and presentation.

To succeed as a barista, you should be committed to providing customers with excellent service. You should be positive, friendly, knowledgeable, and polite.

Responsibilities:

  • Welcoming customers, informing them about specials or new items, answering questions, and accepting orders and payments.

  • Preparing foods, such as sandwiches or baked goods, and grinding and blending coffee beans, brewing coffee and tea, and serving items to customers.

  • Packaging food and beverages for sale.

  • Up-selling tea blends, cakes and food where appropriate.

  • Cleaning and restocking work and dining areas, emptying rubbish, and sanitizing equipment and utensils.

  • Learning about brewing methods, beverage blends, food preparation, and presentation techniques to improve food quality.

  • Updating signage and displays to attract customers.

  • Taking inventory and replenishing items in display cases, at tables, or behind the counter.

  • Receiving orders and supplies.

  • Check temperatures of freezers, refrigerators or heating equipment to ensure proper functioning

  • Working in as part of a fun, high-energy team.

  • Adhering to all food safety regulations and quality controls.

  • Handling customer complaints in the first instance and reporting feedback to the Managers.

  • Working within established guidelines and operating procedures.

  • Responsible for security (product and cash), taking payments accurately.

  • Be a key holder for Venue No.1 premises and ensure that all quality and health and safety checks are adhered to. 

  • To provide any other duties as required to meet the demands to ensure the effective operation of the building and its facilities.  Cover for relevant staff as and when necessary.

 

 

Experience, skills and abilities:

It is expected that the successful candidate will have the following:

  • Experience in food and beverage preparation or customer service preferred.

  • Training and willingness to continue learning about food and beverage preparation.

  • Exceptional listening and communication skills.

  • Availability to work around peak hours, including nights, early mornings, weekends, holidays and additional hours as required.

  • A confident, polite, engaging personality.

  • Willingness to work as part of a high-energy, efficient team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Creative, Dynamic and highly motivated with a passion for success.

  • Personal integrity and the ability to invoke trust.

  • Willingness and ability to work at Special Events

  • Maintains a professional attitude and company morale

  • Flexible, adaptable, ability to multi task and willing to work additional hours as and when required

  • Commitment to customer satisfaction and service excellence.  Comfortable working with members of the public, able to initiate conversations and provide a sincere welcome and enjoy providing good service.

  • Assistants will be on their feet for most of the day and may be required to lift and carry trays and crockery, restocking shelves etc.

  • You should have a comprehensive understanding of the menu and have a keen interest in local food and drink.

  • An effective, well organised and efficient team player with a strong sense of discipline and urgency.

  • Knowledge of till operation and cash handling.

  • Excellent standards of personal presentation smart appearance and articulate.

  • Food Hygiene training / qualifications.

  • Trained Barista or with previous catering experience advantageous.

Job Title:  Cafe Manager

Job Summary

We are searching for an experienced Cafe Manager who is passionate about food and beverage preparation and education. The Green Room Manager will show great pride in the Cafe and strive to make it better. They will have experience of managing staff and preparing staff rotas. The Cafe Manager will also be expected to serve customers and prepare food. It is a hands on role. You will be responsible for placing orders and ensuring the Cafe is always prepared for service. 

To succeed as Cafe Manager, you should be committed to providing customers with excellent service. You should be positive, friendly, knowledgeable, and polite.

  • Cashing up at the end of each day and performing banking duties.

  • To provide any other duties as required to meet the demands to ensure the effective operation of the building and its facilities. Cover for relevant staff as and when necessary.

Job Title:  Care Taker

Hours of Work: Minimum of 12 hours per week including weekends, evenings and public holidays.

(More hours such as necessary to undertake the specified duties and this will involve)

Job Summary

Venue No.1 are looking for a Care Taker who will be a reliable and key member of the Venue No.1 team. You will be responsible for general site maintenance and upkeep of our brand new building. 

To succeed as our Care Taker, you should be committed and extremely reliable. 

Responsibilities:

  • Unlocking/locking the building 

  • Undertake regular security checks and identify security risks

  • Monitor fire safety equipment and carry out fire drills

  • Operate and respond to alarm systems where appropriate, outside of any specialist monitoring brief

  • Provide emergency access to Venue No.1

  • Perform general maintenance including minor repairs, and waste removal​

 

 

Experience, skills and abilities:

It is expected that the successful candidate will have the following:​

  • Caretaking/site-keeping or trade experience in a similar environment

  • Good numeracy/literacy skills / GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English

  • Willingness to develop knowledge of use of ICT and other specialist equipment/resources

  • Working knowledge of relevant polices/codes of practice/legislation

  • Ability to work without direct supervision

  • Ability to relate well to children and adults

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety procedures and precautions

  • Knowledge of COSHH regulations

  • Willingness to participate in development and training opportunities

  • Demonstrate a flexible attitude and willingness to work as part of a team. Show the ability to assist other team members in the discharge of their duties

Job Title:  Receptionist

Hours of Work: Minimum of 24 hours per week including weekends, evenings and public holidays.

(More hours such as necessary to undertake the specified duties and this will involve)

Job Summary

Venue No.1 are looking for a Receptionist who will be a reliable and key member of the Venue No.1 team. You will be the face of Venue No.1 and be guests first point of contact when they arrive. You will be very organised and willing to develop within an exciting new building. 

To succeed as our Receptionist, you should be committed and extremely reliable. 

Responsibilities:

  • Unlocking/locking the building 

  • Meeting and greeting visitors as they enter the building and ensuring you are aware of why they are there. 

  • Administrative tasks to include but not limited to: Writing press releases, contacting potential hirers, reporting from booking system.

  • Ensuring all rooms are ready at the beginning of each day and before each hire. 

  • Running pre and post daily checks of the building and reporting any findings to the Venue Manager.

  • Be responsible for the accident book, safeguarding forms and other necessary policies.

 

 

Experience, skills and abilities:

It is expected that the successful candidate will have the following:​

  • Experience in a customer facing role/reception experience

  • Administrative experience

  • Good numeracy/literacy skills / GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English

  • Willingness to develop knowledge of use of ICT and other specialist equipment/resources

  • Ability to work individually and as part of an exciting team  

  • Ability to relate well to children and adults

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety procedures and precautions

  • Willingness to participate in development and training opportunities

  • Demonstrate a flexible attitude and willingness to work as part of a team. Show the ability to assist other team members in the discharge of their duties
